Having five kids means any activities we plan have to be age appropriate for them all. Last night we decided to give the oldest two kids a little treat with dinner and a show at The Mac Belfast while my mum looked after the three younger kids.
We booked a table at Coppi a lovely Italian restaurant in Saint Anne’s Square in Belfast. It was our first visit. The moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our seats with menus and coloring in for the kids. All the staff were friendly and the service was perfect. The kids both ordered a Margarita Pizza with fries from the kids menu which came with a choice of ice cream or a hot chocolate for desert. I ordered Thyme Roast Chicken breast and Trevor ordered Chargrilled Sirloin. For desert we shared a Chocolate, hazelnut and salted caramel tart. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. My chicken came with Garlic Grilled Mushrooms, Spiced Calabrese Sausage Mac & Cheese neither of which I would eat. The waitress gave me the option of swapping them for another side. The ambiance was perfect for us with children, I also feel its a great spot for dinner with friends which is a hard mix to get right. We really enjoyed our meal and we would definitely be back.
After dinner we went to The Mac Belfast for the first showing of The Assistants revenge for Belfast Children’s Festival. The show is for children age 8+ and adults, it lasts about 50 minutes. The Assistants revenge is about an escapologist who thinks someone is trying to murder him. He hires a private eye to find out who it is. Will it be one of the assistants that kill him or someone else? You’ll have to watch the show to find out.
The show has 4 main characters Felix the escapologist who seems to have made some enemies while trying to perfect the most dangerous stunt. Sam Sullivan the private eye who is hired by Felix to find out who is trying to murder him. Molly and Crystal who are Felix’s assistants. They all sing, play instruments or piano throughout the show along with some escapology tricks and a little murder mystery so there is something for everyone. By the end of the show the kids were left intrigued. I think its definitely something I recommend for the kids and adults if you have an hour free.
Lewis thought the play was very good, his favourite trick was when Molly hand cuffed Felix before locking him in the water tank which he had to escape from. Sophia’s thought the play was awesome, her favourite trick was Felix catching a bullet between his teeth.
There is a number of other events running over the next few day for Belfast Children’s Festival. There is something for all ages and budgets. For more information click here.
Although the tickets for The Assistants Revenge were gifted all views are my own and of the kids.
