You know when you just look at something every day and one day you decide that you’re over it? Yep, that’s what happened to me with our living room. The living room is the heart of our house, it’s where we relax and watch TV, talk to our children and unwind after a long day. It’s where we spend time as a family and so we want it to be a room we love. We were already half way there, I didn’t want to change the sofa or wooden furniture we had as it is still relatively new. I spent months trying to find the right soft furnishings for our living room. When I found cushions I liked I couldn’t find anything else to go with them. I got to the point where I was ready to give up until one day I called into Sainsbury’s to get some shopping and found the perfect cushions.
I loved the print on the cushions and thought it would add the little touches of colour I was looking for. The charcoal grey cushions went perfectly with the cushions and the sofa we already had. The cushions were £16 each. The charcoal grey cushions were £14 each.
If you have been following me on Instagram for a while you will know I had the picture frames on the wall for quite some time without any pictures in because I couldn’t decide what pictures I wanted to use. Trevor decided to take the lead on that one and picked the pictures and had them printed by a local print company (Bangor Colour Copy).
When Trevor ordered our corner sofa he didn’t measure the space so we had to take a middle section out and use it as a single chair. I decided to get matching cushions for the single chair also. I picked up the little sand timer and candle in the ceramic pot because the grey and green matched the cushions. Sand timer was £10. Candle was £10 .
I decided to keep the table lamps we already had but change the light shade again they were from Sainsbury’s £12 .
I’m not very good at keeping real plants alive so any we have are artificial. I thought this little one would be perfect for here for just £8.
By just adding those few little finishing touches and a fresh coat of paint on the walls the living room has been transformed into a space that I now love.
